Commercial Manual Doors
Fire doors, steel security doors, aluminium and glass shopfronts and timber doors, supplied, installed, maintained and repaired across East Anglia.

Commercial manual doors
The right door for every opening
Not every entrance needs to be automated. Manual doors remain a practical choice for fire escapes, secure store rooms, offices and commercial frontages. Avanti Doors supplies, installs, services and repairs fire doors, steel security doors, aluminium and glass shopfronts and timber doors across the UK from our Norfolk base.

Choosing a doorset
Specified by duty, fitted as complete assemblies
Fire doors carry the building's life-safety duties, corridors, stairwells and escape routes, installed and maintained as tested doorsets like the final-exit sets with panic hardware we fitted in Crawley. Steel security doors harden the openings nobody watches: plant rooms, stores and service-yard exits.
Aluminium and glass shopfronts are the customer-facing side, glazed doorsets and complete frontages like the Polegate elevation, specified so they can be automated later if traffic grows. Timber doorsets complete the range where character leads. Whichever duty the opening carries, the doorset is surveyed, supplied and fitted as one assembly, then supported with repairs and planned maintenance.
Before specification
What a manual-door survey needs to establish
Commercial manual doors are specified as complete assemblies around the opening, required performance and the people who use them.
Required function
Fire resistance, escape, security, accessibility, weather exposure and daily traffic all change the doorset and hardware specification.
The complete doorset
Leaf, frame, seals, glazing, hinges, closer, lock and threshold need to work together; changing one component can affect the whole assembly.
Existing opening
Measurements, substrate, condition, swing, surrounding routes and any building constraints are recorded before a replacement is proposed.
Inspection and records
The handover should identify the installed components and the inspection or maintenance requirements that apply to their use.

Common questions
Manual door FAQs
Quick answers for facilities teams and building owners planning door work.
1Fire, steel, aluminium or timber, how do we choose?
By what the opening has to do. Fire and escape performance comes first wherever the strategy demands it; back-of-house and high-risk openings take steel; customer-facing frontages take glazed aluminium; timber earns its place where character matters and exposure is kind. Many doors combine duties, a steel fire door, a glazed fire screen, and are specified as one tested assembly.
2Do you repair manual commercial doors as well as install them?
Yes, jammed leaves, dropped hinges, failed closers, broken locks, damaged glazing and worn seals are everyday call-outs across all four families, whoever originally fitted the door.
3Are your manual doorsets compliant for fire and accessibility?
Fire doorsets are supplied and fitted as tested assemblies with their certification matched to the installed configuration, and entrances are specified with level or ramped thresholds and workable opening forces in line with accessibility expectations. Inspection and maintenance records are part of the handover.
4What areas do you cover?
East Anglia, London and the wider UK, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex through to London and the home counties. Documented manual-door work includes Crawley, Polegate and Bishopsgate.
