Automatic Sliding Entrance at a Northwich Retail Unit
A failed swing-door entrance replaced with new automatic sliding doors and hinged pocket doors as a safety upgrade, at a retail unit in Northwich, Cheshire.

Case study
Store entrance upgrade in Northwich
A retail unit in Northwich needed its main entrance upgraded — the existing swing doors had failed and needed replacing with a proper automatic sliding entrance. Avanti Doors removed the old doors and supplied and installed new full-height glazed screens, a sliding door leaf and automatic operators, with hinged pocket doors added as a safety upgrade for the high-traffic doorway. The work was carried out out of hours across three evenings so the store kept trading throughout.

Scope of works
A safer automatic entrance for a high-traffic store
What we supplied and installed
- Existing failed swing doors removed and disposed of, out of hours across three evenings
- Full-height double-glazed screens with side panels and a full-height glazed sliding door leaf
- Non-thermal aluminium framing, toughened double-glazed units, 125mm transom header, heavy-duty top rail, flush pull and hook locks on a wide double-ramp threshold
- Single sliding automatic operators — motor, processor, drive belt, carriage wheels, EBU battery back-up, combi threshold safety sensors and a 5-position program switch
- Hinged pocket doors fitted as a safety upgrade for rear-edge impact protection
- Wired, set up and tested to EN16005, adjusted and left in full working order
Why it matters for the site
- A busy high-street store entrance upgraded with new automatic sliders in place of failed swing doors
- Hinged pocket doors chosen over side-screen safety sensors for this high-traffic setting — they remove the risk of the door making contact entirely, rather than just slowing it
- Installed out of hours across three evenings so the store kept trading throughout the works
- EN16005-tested with battery back-up so the entrance stays safe even if power is lost
