Swing Door Automation at Dolphin Square
Five pairs of Dorma ED100A automatic swing door operators with Flatscan 3D safety, mag locks and battery backup, supplied and installed at Dolphin Square in Pimlico.

Case study
Five entrances automated at Dolphin Square
Dolphin Square in Pimlico needed five pairs of entrance doors automated across the development. Avanti Doors supplied and installed Dorma ED100A automatic swing door operators to all five entrances, each with radar activation, Flatscan 3D on-door laser safety sensing, slimline magnetic locks and 1000VA battery back-up. Everything was powder-coated to a matched anodised finish and wired so each doorset runs automatically until it receives a fire-alarm signal, then opens. Two engineers worked on site over five days in February 2025.

- Location
- Dolphin Square, Pimlico (SW1V)
- Work
- 5 pairs swing automation, Flatscan 3D, fire-alarm open
Scope of works
What we supplied and installed
What we supplied and installed
- Five pairs of Dorma ED100A automatic swing door operators with radar activation, fitted to the existing entrance doors
- Flatscan 3D on-door safety sensing to each pair, laser technology that removes the need for extra key switches or finger guards
- Two pairs of slimline magnetic locks for secure holding, with glass fixing kits throughout
- Five 1000VA battery back-up units, sited on a shelf above the doors or within the ceiling void
- Powder-coated matched anodised finish to operator covers, arms, end caps and mag locks
- Every doorset wired to run automatically until it receives a fire-alarm command, then open on fire alarm
Provided by others on site:
- Fire-alarm and access-control contacts
- One 230V switched fused spur per pair of doors
Why it matters for the site
- Five main entrances automated for step-free, hands-free access across a large residential development
- Flatscan 3D laser safety on every pair, meeting on-door safety-in-use requirements without extra key switches or finger guards
- 1000VA battery back-up on each operator so the doors keep working safely through a power loss
- Fire-alarm integration so all five doorsets open automatically in an alarm condition
How it was done
The installation process
- 1Two engineers on site over five normal working days, with extra time allowed for the battery back-ups and magnetic locks.
- 2Fitted five pairs of Dorma ED100A automatic swing door operators to the existing entrance doors, with radar activation.
- 3Installed Flatscan 3D on-door laser safety sensing, slimline magnetic locks, glass fixing kits and 1000VA battery back-up units.
- 4Wired each doorset for fire-alarm release, automatic operation until an alarm signal, then open, with fire-alarm and access-control contacts and fused spurs provided by others.
- 5Set up, tested and left all five entrances in full working order with a matched powder-coated finish.
