Education & public sector
Site security that keeps term time running
A school gate that won't close, a fire door wedged on a corridor, an entrance that anyone can walk through — on an education site these are safeguarding issues, not just maintenance jobs. Avanti Doors works with site managers and bursars across schools, colleges, university campuses and public-sector estates on controlled entrances, automatic gates and barriers, fire doors and planned works booked into agreed holiday windows.
What we look after
Door, gate and barrier support for education estates

Safeguarding-Aware Access Control
Controlled entrances with keypads, fob readers and intercom-released doors, so staff decide who comes onto site during the school day.

Gate & Barrier Safety
Automatic gates and vehicle barriers inspected, force-tested and maintained as part of the site's approach to separating pedestrian and vehicle routes.

Fire Doors & Compliance
Fire doors and closers on corridors, halls and escape routes checked, adjusted and repaired — with written records for the site manager.

Holiday-Window Planned Works
Installations, refurbishments and major servicing can be programmed into agreed half-term and holiday access windows.
Why Avanti

Safeguarding-aware working
Engineers sign in, work to your site's safeguarding and visitor procedures, and keep access controlled while they work.
Holiday-window scheduling
Planned works booked into half-terms, holidays and exam-free windows — agreed with the site team in advance.
Documented service records
The agreed visit report gives site managers a consistent maintenance trail for governors, auditors and insurers.
Procurement-friendly paperwork
Clear written quotations and consistent documentation that supports procurement and approval processes.
Powered-system safety checks
Automatic doors, gates and barriers are inspected and tested against the requirements applicable to each system and the agreed scope.
Agreed reactive support
If a gate, shutter or entrance fails, the service team triages it against the coverage and priority agreed for the site.

Common questions
Education & public sector FAQs
Quick answers for site managers, bursars and estates teams planning door and gate work.
1Can work be scheduled during school holidays?
Where access, scope and availability allow, installations, refurbishments and major servicing can be programmed into half-terms, summer breaks and other agreed windows. The programme and handover date are confirmed with the site before work starts; routine visits can also be timed outside teaching hours where agreed.
2How do your engineers work on sites with safeguarding requirements?
Our engineers follow your safeguarding and visitor-management procedures: signing in on arrival, carrying identification, working under any escort or access arrangements your policy requires, and keeping entrances controlled rather than propped open while they work. We agree these arrangements with the site manager before the first visit.
3What documentation do you provide for procurement and compliance?
You get a clear written quotation once the scope has been assessed, and the agreed service record sets out what was inspected, tested and repaired on each door, gate or barrier. Site managers can retain those records for fire-safety files, governor and audit reporting, and procurement evidence.
